My grandmother is from Peru and she can only speak Spanish and Quechua, but she doesn’t know one English word. She talks to me in Spanish (all the time), but I do not understand what she is saying. I think she thinks that I understand every word she is saying, but I don’t. Some of my family members and my mom tell my grandmother that I do not understand what she is saying, but my grandmother still talks to me in Spanish, like she just doesn’t get it that I don’t understand what she is saying. She also talks to people that don’t understand Spanish that much in my family. I don’t want to learn more Spanish. My grandmother is 82 years old. How can I make her know (and get) that I don’t understand what she is saying and that I am learning Japanese and maybe Chinese? I want her to stop talking to me in Spanish and Quechua if she starts talking to me in Quechua.

Generally the website will give the words and its meaning. However, I want a website which will also provide a sentence, using that word.
I need not only the word’s meaning, but also a sentence with that word.

If a Chinese speaking foreigner spends 1 hour a day learning English, how long, you think, does it take him or her to learn to understand 14,000 English words?

I don’t have japanese friends and i can’t make any. I live in the USA and i’ve been doing this project where i’m making vocabulary lists based on categories..i kind of took all the yahoo answers categories and then made more subcategories..Well so i come up with voicabulary or i search it in the web based on an english article about a certain topic. But sometimes i find english words and i can’t find their japanese word in a dictionary or in the web. So what can i do for this? Just not learn them?

The topics range from basic stuff to Difficult stuff, like i go for FILM.. and then in english there’s words like “Flickering( of frames)” or “Stock phrases( as when they advertise a movie and say SPECTACULAR, THRILLING)”. Yeah i’ve used internet encyclopedias that have english and japanese articles..but sometimes they don’t have many of the same words used in the english section or sometimes they don’t have the japanese articles at all. So is it just dumb for me to try to to find these
